“WIN-WIN“ principles of vendor management
Vendor management can be done in many different ways. But the goal should always be to reach beneficial cooperation that leads to the satisfaction of both sides. As a translation agency you need to have a large pool of reliable and punctual resources for reasonable prices and as a freelancer you want to cooperate with a partner who can guarantee continuous supply of meaningful work, provides full support and pays you in time. Sure, we all know how difficult it is and how much time and energy we have to spend to get close to such situation.
Do you as a translation agency daily struggle with not enough willingness to learn, lack of communication, lies and excuses, non-compliance and ignorance from both freelancers and other LSPs?
Or do you as a freelancer often feel lost in a large number of irrelevant, incomplete and confusing information and instructions? Do you suffer due to the lack of professional technical support and with impatient project managers?
Are the LSPs and freelancers doing everything in their power to be in the “WIN-WIN” situation? We think that a lot are. But we are absolutely sure that a lot are not.
In this presentation we will summarize the topics which LSPs and freelancers can further work on. Also, based on our experience we will give you a few tips which might help to achieve the satisfaction of both sides.
Some topics we will cover are:
• The importance of the quality data of the resources and how to get them
• Setting up the conditions of cooperation at the right time
• How to educate the resources
• How to convince linguists to do the services they are not used to
• Rates negotiation
• The importance of complete and accurate information and instructions
