FIT: Benefits for individuals and translation companies – a contradiction?
Alexandra Jantscher-Karlhuber is a member of the FIT (International Federation of Translators) Council. National associations of translators, interpreters and terminologists can become regular FIT members. There are also member categories for training institutions and observers.
FIT seeks dialogue with international associations in related fields. In this context, translation companies play an increasingly significant role. While FIT mainly represents professionals working as freelancers, we acknowledge the importance of working in teams. Translation companies are gaining in importance in this context; FIT has worked out a position paper on the cooperation between freelancers and such companies. Individual member associations and networks have also looked into this same topic. The speaker will introduce FIT’s position paper on the cooperation between freelancers and translation companies and other areas of importance. She appreciates constructive comments from freelancers and translation companies representatives alike, that can be used to advance FIT’s position.
