The European Commission is backing a Jobs Fair at the Meet Central Europe conference taking place in Prague on 10/11 October.
The Commission is taking the initiative by inviting freelance translators from the region to the Fair, which will provide a platform where they can meet be a forum for companies.
Commenting Radka Vegrichtová, Board member of the Meet Central Europe and President of the Czech Association of Translation Agencies said: “Meet Central Europe has launched this new collaborative initiative with the Commission to bring together the whole translation and localization community allowing linguists and language service companies interested in working together to come together in one place. The support from Czech office of DGT will allow freelancers to join the Jobs Fair free-of-charge and attend a follow-up programme hosted by the EC’s representatives.”
Jan Faber, DGT’s Prague field officer added: “Thanks to the cooperation with the organizers, DGT is also preparing a panel on continuing professional development bringing together representatives of national freelance translator associations from Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia. Given the technological turn, we have seen in the field of translation over last 15 years, it is crucial for the translators to update and complete their qualifications on a regular basis. The panel can give them a wider perspective on the various options at home and abroad.”
Meet Central Europe, whose theme is ‘Inspiring Vendor Managers’, was founded last year by four members of the EUATC representing translation companies in Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia. It staged its inaugural event in Budapest.
